The Emerald Guard was the first Alabama Unit to enlist "for the war". The 8th was organized by the appointment of its field officers by the war department. The Regiment was posted at Yorktown, Virginia during the first eleven months of its service, and a detachment of the 8th was engaged in a skirmish near Winn's Mill.

There should be a system in which you can create a character with his own background, facial features, etc. You could be a recent German immigrant to Louisiana that joined the infantry with emerald green eyes and hair as red as the tomatoes he grows on his farm. Just imagine the possibilities. Characters with backgrounds of their own. It would make the game so much more immersive and realistic.

I can indeed assure you that many of the weapons you listed will be included in the game. However, when it comes to things like the Windbüchse, I doubt that will be included, as I have never seen a single instance of it's use in the American Civil War, let alone in the Maryland Campaign.
